Ballistic Pendulum Lab
Procedure: Used ballistic pendulum to test the angle the pendulum produced, with this we can conclude the velocity, kinetic energy, momentum, etc.
Data Collected:
Trial 1 - 33 degrees
Trial 2 - 34.5 degrees
Trial 3 - 34 degrees
Average Angle: (33+33.5+34)/3 = 33.8333 degrees
d x = 2.63m
h= .037m
m(block) = 79.5
m(bullet) = 7.6g
d y = .87m
Equations
Velocity (bullet) = ((mblock +mbullet)
√(2gh))/(mbullet)
Velocity (bullet) = ((.0795 + .0076) √(2x9.8x.037))/(.0076) = 9.792 m/s
d y = .5at^2
d = (2*(d y)/g)
v = (d x)/t
t=.421 sec
v = 6.42 m/s
Percent Error = 36.27%
